Catalonia is an autonomous community on the northeastern corner of Spain, with Barcelona as the most important city of this region. Catalonia has always been proud of its distinct language and cultural heritage, which have been threatened on different periods in the past. The current political and economic situation of Spain fueled and magnified the never-solved conflict between Catalonia and Spain, and awakened the desire for independence. This presentation will walk you through the origins of the conflict until the current situation in Catalonia in an attempt to give a better understanding of the overall Catalonia-Spanish conflict. |
